my neighbor just picked up a 06 F-150 2 wheel drive with 4.2 V6 for use as a beater.
got a pretty good deal, $3,000 with a low mile engine. original engine blew when it overheated after radiator blew.
truck has a little over 80K miles, engine is a little over 35K. i was going through it and cigar lighter was out. plugged in to OBD port, and that was out too. went to change fuse, but it was good. found a blown 20 amp in spot 41, which is tagged " not used" in diagram. changed it and lighter and OBD port came on.
is there a misprint in the fuse box diagram for the 04-08 F150 that FTE has in archives?

The owner's manual for that truck does specify that F41 is the lighter and the OBDII port. Suggest your neighbor download a copy if the original is missing.

It appears that the author of that article took the diagram and tables from the 07 owner's manual and inappropriately extrapolated coverage to the whole range of model years. They're not all the same.

 

yup, i saw that after reading your post and downloading the 06 owners manual.
i am going to inform IB staff of the error and have that article either edited or removed.

thanks for confirming my suspicion, and proving i am not totally crazy........yet
