Motor mount w/pic question
#17
I had measured the width of the brackets not the mount bolts. You can't get to the driver side to measure the distance so on Rock Auto they show the mounts to work on either side so they have to be the same. As for the brackets they cover those bolts and they are totally different because of the stuff around where they are mounted. They both have stamped "for Ford 460CI 7.5L engine". These distances make me believe what 89F2urd said might be what happened with the memory theory. I don't know what else it could be. What is your opinion on what is wrong. Do you agree that the distance the camera shows on the pass side bolt hole (where the bolt was) will not line up with the hole in the mount?

Looks like you'll just need to jack the engine up enough to get a wrench in. Not a daunting task at all, you can do it with a crane or a floor jack and a block of wood.
And yea, looks like the bolt would not go into its chase on the block. It's been boltless for a while, the rust on the threads indicates that as said above. That would lead me to believe it is actually an incorrect mount, where the installer couldn't get that bolt in and just said F it

Now that I have loosened the other bolt the mount swung over and exposed this. The bolt I had trouble removing was in fact bolted into the motor. The hole with rust and grease just seem to be something not used. I don't think I had a problem at all it just appeared that way because of the mount covering everything up. ??? Sandy

yes, that will never make it there, I've not seen motor mounts go together like a jig-zaw puzzle(so many pieces), the one on parts geek, that resembled yours said Front driver, and I wondered if PO got wrong mount, and like '89F2urd said, PO said f it, so when you first saw bolt and thought it wasnt threaded in, did you have to use a wrench to get it out also, I seen pic below, was why I was thinking it was on wrong side
3 bolt holes, to line up left or right side

The bolt I thought was not threaded in the proper hole took almost an hour to remove. I used breaker bars and everything I could find. It finally gave up. Today I got the other bolt loosened and that's when the mount swung out of the way and only then I could see that it had been threaded in the other visible hole and was in fact bolted to the motor.
I have no idea what that original hole is for that I thought the bolt was supposed to go into. Anyway nothing was originally wrong it just appeared that way. Everything is now back together and the monkey is dead and the show's over.. I sure appreciate all the help from everyone. I sure got fooled on that one. But better safe than sorry. Sandy
