I have a 1993 Ranger 4.0L V6 2WD. ABS light comes on; and the red brake warning light comes on but not all the time. The lights are both off at times but will come back on & not always together at the same time. Note....My brakes seem to work fine.
I did check the fluid level. It is fine. Brakes work fine. Brake & ABS lights keep going off and on. Does anyone know where the test point is and how to get codes?
By test point I assume you're looking for the wire that get's jumped to ground and by doing so, will invoke what amounts to a flashing of the RABS light and ultimately the # of flashes amounts to a "code" for the RABS system. In that case, and assuming it's the same as a 94 (I'm like, 99.5% certain it will be), it will be an orange pigtail with a (probably black in color) connector on the end, and it's behind the parking brake assembly and up sorta high, IIRC against the firewall and behind the carpet. Although me used the Ford FSM long ago to do this, the procedure for extracting codes used to be in the tech section in this forum so I'd look there or in your FSM. I would also do a visual around the master cyl for any loose wiring related to the brakes as well as at the RABS unit. Also and FYI, if the rear brakes are out of adjustment, this can/will result in excess pedal travel which can result in a brake warning light.
