Main fuel tank
Hello all,
2 years ago I bought a 77 F250 Camper Special with 2 fuel tanks. The main (rear) tank is not in use and the PO said it was like that when they bought it, but they have no idea why. Is there a way to check the tank and hoses for leaks or blockages, without pulling it out? I wondered if it either has a leak or it was a safety thing...as in a rear tank can't be used in CA (where it's originally from) in case of a rear-end collision? I also, just this second, realized that I haven't checked the tank selector....maybe it's bad? How can I test the tank selector for functionality?

To check the valve, just turn the ignition key to the right (1st position) and switch the fuel selector switch, you should be able to hear the valve under the truck back on the cross member switch over. If it had not been used in a long time for some unknown reason, I would drop it and insp it. If you put gas in it you might be pumping a bunch of junk into the lines/filter and carb.
That tank drop is not that bad with it empty. My version of tank drop is here. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post14696841
So says the parts man. "78/79 duel fuel tanks frame switch-Duralast/Universal 3 port fuel selector valve used with SW48 toggle switch Part Number: FSV4"

I just went through my system. Replaced both tanks and verified all valves and switches work. It all worked prior but was in need of cleaning. Yes, there was a lot of crud in both tanks. It suprised me. After they dried out I shook them and it sounded like a couple cups of sand were in each.

How about these liquid fuel tank "liners" you can put in the tanks?
I am thinking about cleaning my tank and putting the Eastwood stuff inside to refurbish it.
Thoughts?
