351w Identification help. *pics inside*

So I am about to do a cam swap and I am trying to ID the 351w I have. I bought a flat tapper cam but I am finding mixed info online saying I may have a roller block. Any information would be appreciated guys

With the F4TE casting it looks like you have a roller block. That being said the best way to check is to look under your intake manifold and check for bosses that have been drilled and tapped. Looking under the intake will immediately tell you what have going on.

351w

That is a 94 351w block, they came with either a flat tappet or roller cam from the factory. If you look at the lifter valley there should be 2 threaded holes down the middle that were used to hold down the spider for factory type roller lifters. If your budget allows by all means go roller.

Got it. Thank you guys for the quick reply. Am will be taking the intake off tomorrow and will be looking out for the spider bone. If it is there then I will scratch the original plan and go roller.

I appreciate the input guys

If not there just buy one and a set of oe rollers. Not that much price wise, at least compared to link bar lifters.

Edit, and you'll need the dog bones

So I have roller block, roller cam, & roller rockers!

No retrofitting needed but now my flat tapped cam & lifters are not getting used.

Bitter sweet morning.
