Need your opinion on the 2020 f250

Hi guys

i’m currently shopping for a 2019 F-250, i will lift it 8” on 38’s.

Now i hate the 2020 grille, i think its the worst in years. So what’s new with 2020? Obviously the new 7.3 L engine in my opinion will cost way more than the 6.2L, but what i really like is the 10 speed transmission.

so here’s the million dollar question, will the 10 speed transmission be way more efficient than the current 6 speed on gas?

Basically im wondering if i should wait for that reason only, bevause i totally hate the new front of the 2020

i’m welcoming your honest opinions,

thanks

My guess is the 7.3 will be minimal cost over the 6.2...maybe 1,000-1,500. It won't be anywhere close to the nearly 10K they charge for a PSD.

Don't expect much of a MPG improvement on the 10 sp vs the 6 sp. Maybe 1 or 2 MPG tops of real world gain.

The 6 sp is incredibly reliable...one of the most reliable transmissions in the history of the automobile. The 6.2 is rock solid also. If looks deter you away from the 2020 then you will have one fine truck in a 2019.

The 7.3 and 10 speed combo will bring a smoother and better driving experience vs the 6.2 and 6 speed especially when towing.

Ford rep has said 7.3/10 will get better mpg than 6.2/6 speed. Given the increased performance (expected) that's win win. Keep in mind 2020 250 1" lower in back and 1/2" in front which will help mpg too. Not sure if that's part of reason. I assume not as doesn't apply to 350.

The height lowering is for both SRW F250/350s.

An 8in lift on 38's will never be efficient regardless of a 10 speed or 6 speed gasser. Second, first year production vehicles = recalls

Ok, read 250 only back at Feb debut but my source incorrect then. Makes sense as that F350 Ltd on other thread looks lower too.

I would wait for the 2020 if you want the 7.3L, or want the upped power in the 6.7L. I think there are some additional features depending on trim level that you might be interested in too. Im not sure how I feel about the grills either but I do like the new lights. I tend to like the XLT grills better, or at least parts of them, even on the current trucks. The openings/scoops near the headlights make them look better imo, they should incorporate them into the Lariat grills. I agree with the above post too, with that large of a lift and tires I dont think the 10 speed will make much of a difference.

JMO. You may hate it, but it is what it is.. I’m not a fan as of yet.. But, if you buy a previous year, you just paid full price for a dated look and an outdated engine and trans.
Its always hard to judge something until you see it in the flesh. There will also be updates, such as better LED headlights, and I sure a lot more.

I’m going one of two ways.
First is the Limited which I think has an awesome grille, but a hard to justify price..
Second would be a Platinum, which I would then buy the Limited grille and install. Both trucks use the nickel finish, and the grille is a cheaper and easy way to get away from the F-150 style funky grille.

The diesel option with new power and torque ratings now becomes well worth it.
The 10 speed should be a game changer. I read an article about how the 10 speed will not skip gears like the half ton transmission does. That should relieve a lot of unfounded concerns.

i like the look of the lariat sport and I'm really interested in the 7.3. I'm curious to see what the new numbers will be. although for me it doesn't matter cause i just got a truck.

Well just increase the budget a little and do a headlight and grill swap from a '17. It'll all fit and a platinum grill will flow plenty of air.

I got a 19 Platinum because I like how it looks so much. I waited to see what the 2020 would look like and it did nothing for me.

The 7.3 gas could be worth waiting for. The 10 speed is neat as well. The increased 6.7 diesel power is muh because they nanny and torque manage it so much you dont get the current power anyway.

I don't mean this in a bad way by any means, to the OP please don't take this the wrong way but if you're lifting a truck 8" and putting 38's on it why would you be worried about gas mileage? You know it's probably gonna be a pig. But waiting on the 7.3 for the added torque would probably be worth it. Unless you step up to the 6.7 to really turn those tires.

My thoughts exactly. The 10 speed WILL make a difference.
