Question for the roller pros

Hi all, I would like to know what position does the roller tip have to be on the valvetip when valve is closed. centre, or closer to either side of the valve tip?? Does the roller tip push the valve strait down, or start from one side and move to the other. thanks.

If memory serves it sits more on the outer side of the valve stem...at least with the Harland Sharps.

With the valve closed it should be toward the inside then as the valve opens it should roll across the stem to the outside when the valve is open. The roller should be on the center of the stem at half lift. Comp Cams has a picture of this on their website. This is how they say to find the correct pushrod length.
