New to me 2000 V10 EX noise
So i just picked up a 2000 ex with a V10, traded a 1981 yamaha bike for it! 185k on the clock, i have service records from 2000 all the way to 16 when the person i got it from acquired it. in 16 all the coils on the drivers side were replaced, and ALL of the plugs were replaced. i have a slight miss from cylinder 1, due to a loose connector that i just havnt spliced a new coil connector on yet. But what is concerning to me, is that it has a metallic ping noise, at idle, does not increase in frequency or speed of pinging with acceleration, cant be heard from in the vehicle, and appears to be coming from the bottom of the motor, passenger side, near the Y pipe. i can post a video later tonight to youtube, but im 100% sure it isnt a knock, other ideas? plug about to shoot out maybe? compression leak from loose plug?

i dont really understand why it comes across so fricking loud on camera, in person it really isnt nearly loud enough to be a knock, and it doesnt get louder at higher RPM,
should also add, when i changed the oil there wasnt any metal in it, it looked nice and clean, the knock/ticking isnt louder than the motor itself really, you cant actually feel it in the vehicle, its not like i can feel it banging around....it has good oil pressure, pressure never fluctuates, doesnt seem low on power, if i rev it up high to like 2500 or 3000 it isnt any louder than it is at idle

your sound could be exhaust tick, the manifolds are known to leak after breaking studs. my pax side had the 4 center studs broke and i had a constant tick. finally replaced all 20 studs last fall and now no more tick. can't see in your vids if your studs are broken or not.

Ok so, tried to replace #1 coil and realized that the PO has glued the coil down because the bolt was broken. So I can’t replace the #1 coil yet but I have a new motorcraft one to put on. I seafoamed it, half a can in crank half a can down the brake booster vacuum line. Let it sit. Drove it. It runs a bit better, it idles at 850-1000 and fluctuates, would not call it ROUGH, but it has a miss from the #1 cylinder coil pack not being secured properly.
I have definitely noticed the tick sounds super loud at the Y pipe, and I think the fact that it’s straight piped and way too loud is throwing off my sound diagnosing abilities.....it is also loud when I put my head in the passenger side wheel well, so I think manifold...but the loudness throws me off!!!

As long as the coil has a good connection to the boot/plug, the bolt shouldn't matter. At highway speeds 55-65, under a load, does it miss noticeably? If so, then one of the coils is kaput.
The missing stud and tic are not a big deal. Turn up the radio volume and keep driving.
Mine has had the same issue the past 100K miles.

and I drove it about 3 or 400 miles since I got it, and I noticed that the coil had a little wiggle too it, and I touched it, and it killed the cylinder. Then wiggles and it was fine, and one time driving on my way to work accelerating from 50 to 60 it was super bad, then I hit a bump and it was fine xD
