Mercury GT Symbol on Box

Can anyone tell me what the GT symbol on the top rear corner of Mercury boxes means?
I have found this symbol on multiple boxes, including pictures posted here on the forum. It may only be on the F68 and larger boxes.

Thanx,

Kirk

it['s a secret symbol that indicated that the owner/user of the vehicle subscribed to the Global Topology theory of mathematics (not all ford owners agree with the theory and view multiple conjugation quandles in a different light and context... A quandle is an algebra whose axioms are motivated from knot theory. A linear extension of a quandle can be described by using a pair of maps called an Alexander pair. In some papers, it is shown that a linear extension of a multiple conjugation quandle can be described by using a pair of maps called an MCQ Alexander pair, where a multiple conjugation quandle is an algebra whose axioms are motivated from handlebody-knot theory.

and WE ALL have our own opinion on handlebody-knot theory, don't we ???

My best guess would be a line inspectors paint stamp for OK'ing quality assurance. I don't recall ever seeing anything like that before. Inspectors stamps are typically placed in a more discreet location, under fenders or hoods. Interesting.

I tend to keep my opinions on such controversial issues to myself, so as not to disrupt the forum.

The trucks pictures are a random set of pictures, some from this Forum.
The GT was placed there by Ford (Mercury) at time of build.

Mercury owners are sort of a crazy secret society all unto themselves. So some of the above comments may be correct.

I'm sure my comments are not correct!

My guess would be that it stands for something like "general transportation". There are many ways that governments designate trucks for general use and/or commercial transport, this may be just one of them. It would seem logical that this stencil would be applied on the side of the truck where it would be visible at a toll booth or other such entrance to a facility that would charge different rates for commercial and "general" use vehicles. If this is the case, then it would stand to reason that ALL trucks would have this designation and not just Mercurys. Just a thought...
