Random Wires behind dash & wiper motor & wiper switch question

First off, the wipers in my truck quit working over the winter, one day they just stopped. I got in it recently and heard the wiper motor spinning and going duh-duh-duh, duh-duh-duh, but the wipers themselves were not moving. I pulled the dash apart and pulled the motor out, in doing so i fiddled with the switch and motor and testing for hot wires the wipers spun once and everything has stopped. When i turn the switch it sounds a little bit like an electrical short or very slight click noise in the dash that is hard to pinpoint. The switch feels hot. I'm thinking of just replacing the switch and the motor and hoping that's the end of it, anyone have any thoughts? In replacing these switches did these trucks come with intermittent wipers, im seeing many switches that are With intermittent and without Intermitten? I only remember High/Low on my wipers.

2nd question, moving wires around the dash and found 2 wires unplugged. 1 black rubber tubular connector, with 2 brown wires coming out of it. 1 black plastic connector for a flat-spade connector and 1 orange wire coming out of it. Any idea what these are fo?>

Update:
Got out the voltmeter and tried to make sure the ground was good on the wiper motor. So there is 4 wires going to the wiper motor. Black, Blue, White, and Red.
White- 12V Power in all switch positions
Blue - 12V power in with switch turned
Red - 12V power in with swtich turned
Black - grounded

Does anyone know where i can find a electrical wiring diagram for wiper switch & motor?
Just going to order a new wiper motor for now. Taking off and replacement should be a real joy with the blind connections to the motor *shaking my head*

Not sure what year you have, but they are pretty similar.

In these trucks there is a basic wiper switch ( Off - Low - High ), and the Intermittent switch ( Intermittent - Off - Low - High ).

Wiper motors are always the same AFAIK, as the only thing that changes to get intermittent is the switches.

You can replace your basic switch with an intermittent switch.
Intermittent setup is 2 pieces: the switch, and the "black box".
This is plug and play aside from bolting down the ground wire.

The intermittent switch fits in the same location in the dash / is installed the same way, it is bigger inbehind, it has a "black box" that plugs into it(this is the intermittent actuator, or electrical pulse generator, not sure of correct terms for it), the switch has a ground wire you have to bolt to metal, wire is usually bolted to the steering column support behind the instrument cluster, you plug the "black box" into the intermittent switch, you attach the same plugs from trucks wiring that went to your basic switch into the "new" intermittent switches black box wiring plug. The black box is usually bolted through bottom of dash, near above the E-brake pedal but over towards the steering column an inch or three.
