I know when I installed my stereo and Maestro idatalink......there are options to control trucks climate control through the stereo...as well as monitor gauges, read codes, check tire pressure etc. So depending what stereo you went with......?

Do you mean that the heat/AC power was turned completely off, and it turned on by itself? Or did you have the circulating fan on and the AC off...and the AC is what turned on?

With just the circulating fan on, I believe that my AC will come on if I turn the temp dial down to the min, bumping the low side stop. And if I have the AC on, I believe that turning the temp down to the low side stop (maybe it takes a 2nd time of doing that) makes it begin using the recirc. And the AC will turn on if I select Defrost, even though the AC light does not turn on. All of this is from my ancient memory, as I'm not in my truck right now.

I haven't experience this in my '19, but I rarely have the HVAC completely off. I always have it on at least to pull fresh air from outside. I may have to experiment a bit and see, but I will probably forget.

Why would you have the HVAC completely off? What is happening is after a period of time, and start cycles, it’s just turning itself back on. Otherwise there will be moisture build up in the cab, mold, misty smells etc. Always leave the fan on at least 2. Set the heat or cooling to a comfortable setting and let it run. I do turn mine off when running the radio/stereo just to hel the batteries, but always run the HVAC when in the truck. It would just get to warm or cold.

Good to know I'm not the only one...unfortunately.

Is your truck all stock, or do you have an aftermarket radio with a dash kit?

Not directly related but in my old Duramax I had an aftermarket radio and the datalink module was either not wired correctly initially or defective. I had all kinds of weird issues until I replaced it with a new one. For example when I shut the engine off the radio would drop from where it was volume wise to 0. Other times if I made a right turn signal it would change the radio station or source. Thankfully all of my issues were resolved with the new module.
Hope you figure out what is causing your issues. Nothing worse than gremlins like that.

I have the same truck and the same radio however I have the PAC dash kit, I have never had this problem. Is there any change when the oem climate controls were placed in the kit there is some kind of fitment issue causing the button to be partially depressed?

Well, I don’t think it matters if it’s running, but I can see your point ATC. What changed is the maestro so that’s where I would be looking. I have a Lariat so I am not sure I can provide reference on the system automatically turning itself back on. What I do is leave the HVAC on so it’s filtering air, and I turn off the AC button. As opposed to completely powering down. What this does on mine is takesit out of automatic temp control mode. So rather than heating and cooling the cabin I am just getting the temp of outside air.
