1986 xlt lariat no power at fuel pump relay

just like the title says. i bought a truck not running for a good deal. i am getting no power at any of the pumps, I jumped the inertia switch, and also at the front of the line is that there is no power at the relay. what is upstream from here. I cant find any good diagrams online. also the ignition actuator is broken which led me to take the ignition switch off which hen fell apart in my hands while i was removing it. Truck has only 105k miles and it shows "only on the inside". could the ignition switch be related? even when I hot wire the front fuel pump to run it still wont fire it has good blue spark at the coil and plugs im just stumped and need a helping hand on which direction to go.

Here are the diagrams for your truck

1986 EVTM - Gary's Garagemahal (the Bullnose bible)

You can see on page 103 your fuel pump relay. You can see on page 60 where that is fed from.

lol, I'm laughing with you. I've heard this so many times... did it myself years ago (1985 EFI). You are in great hands here with these lads...

After I get off work today I'm going to try to trace the power from the solenoid to the relay. I'll also ohm the fuse able links.

My findings today. I DO have power at the pump relay and the computer isn't telling it to turn on. Relay isn't bad it will click when I change it with eec really. Also tps is bad apparently I read voltage on it and it was getting 5v out 5v in. I think the computer is the wrong one for the truck it's a e6tf-12a650aba1. Any help?

You are going to have to pull the codes. Do you know how to do it? You do not need a code reader, only a testlight. If you get a serious code like code 18, that could be why the computer is not turning the fuel pump on. Code 18 is one of the codes it's spits out if it is not getting signals from the distributor. If the computer doesn't get signals from the distributor, it thinks the engine is not turning and it will not turn on the fuel pump relay.

But shouldn't the relays come on to at least prime. I tightened the eec connector bolt and the eec relay started clicking on with the ignition. e6tf-aba1 is the computer number but everything I found it comes back as a van with a 4.9. I'll check coded here soon I started feeling Ill a short time ago so I decided to eat supper and lie down.

What engine does your truck have? Part of the codes you get tell you how many cylinders the computer thinks it should have. The computer is the heart of your engine controls, you need to be able to communicate with it. It may not fix the problem, but you will at least know where not to look.

Does have 5v with the ignition on. Maybe I'm mistaken. I can unplug the jumper and the light stays on

Make sure you get in those plugs with a knife or something sharp and scrape them down. They sit around and get corroded and they will not make good connection.

You should also have a small ground wire over near the battery that attaches to the negative battery cable, This is the ground for the whole computer system, and it leads a tough life over there near the battery. It also has a small inline connector that like to corroded in this ground wire.

I cleaned the female ends and re did the ground from the connection back to the battery. Same outcome. Is there a way you could message me your personal number so I can have more direct contact
