2017 f150 XLT-XTR mirror swap

Update!

The truck itself cane wired with an 8 pin harness and it hooked up to the tow mirror who the guy bought it from the states. It’s near OEM. My old mirrors did not have the light function while this one did. The lights work fine! The truck itself is already pre-wired for a mirror swap.

Only thing left ft to do to do is get the heat function working by adding a heat function button. (Probably not happening)

thanks all!

Hi all! I am a proud owner of a 2017 Ford F-150 crew cab short box.

The trim rim is a relatively basic xlt with the v8.

I currently have stock regular f-150 mirrors. I’ve been wanting to upgrade to the towing mirrors. However my mirrors does not come with the heated, power fold, and lights on them. The mirror itself can be altered with the power switch.

My quetion is is the truck itself already wired for mirrors with lights or do I have to run a whole new set of wiring to the modules and the battery for the lights to come on. The lights aren’t a big issue for me, I just want to be sure that I can adjust the mirrors as I drive with my switch.

I get 5 different answers from the dealerships and I don’t want to take anything apart just to find out what it is unless I can do a full swap.

Let me know!

Welcome to FTE!

I thought sure this had been covered in a recent thread. Not so recent, and not so much covered. But I bet it's the same deal with your truck:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...rade-help.html

Check out the "Search" function up top, and use advanced search to search this forum only for mirrors.

Good luck with your truck!

mirrors

yeah i see all that, so would i have to get a whole new set up (wiring, harnesses, and reprogram the modules) to complete the swap? however, i am perfectly fine with the XL powerstroke mirrors, its realtively the same thing but doesnt come with turn lights and puddles. however i dont want to lose the function of being able to adjust them with power.

All i want is, an answer if my truck is pre-wired for a tow mirror swap or not. cause i saw on Syppos that they have near oem ford tow mirrors for nearly 80% off the dealer price of almost $2,000 for the swap.

Easy way to find out what your truck is wired for, which I'm sure it has the basic 4 wire plug is to pull off the black trim piece on the inside of the door. You'll see the wire harness/plug connection there. If you buy a tow mirror that has the power mirror adjust, heated and turn signals you should be good to go. Should all be plug and play.

It can be hit or miss with the wiring being there or not because Ford does make changes to the wiring harnesses.

The only way to really tell is by taking it apart.

Good luck.
