302 oil pan gasket

...on my '95 started leaking severely at the driver side right below the oil filter yesterday.

I've replaced a couple of 300 I6 pan gaskets in the past, just dropping the pan and carefully working the gasket under the oil pick-up. Is the 302 the same? Every place I searched so far has the engine partially pulled and half way disassembled, which seems crazy to me.

The 300 is far easier than the V8s.

One thing to check is the oil psi sender. Mine leaked really bad. I pulled it, put new sealer on it and it still leaked. Only after cleaning the area did see where the sender itself was leaking.
That gave me the chance to finally do the oil psi sender modification and that stopped the leak.

Doing the V8, you have to raise the engine, drop the exhaust. You also need to watch the fan shroud when lifting the engine. If you need to remove the pan, then you need to remove the trans x member.
I didn't even try without having the oil pan out. I just pulled the pan and did it with the engine lifted.

Yes you can do it I did the F150 truck in my signature. No problem you can also just cut the old one off and go around the pan with the one piece gasket and flip it onto the pan rail not to bad of a job.

Replaced with a new felpro yesterday. Not too difficult. Still leaking, same place at a lesser rate just below the oil filter. I wonder if the pan is bent from/by some ones previous work.

Follow-up;
I ended up having the dealer replace the oil pan, since I didn't have time or equipment to lift the engine. They said the old pan was OK, but the new one doesn't leak, and the old one still did... hmm.
While they were doing that they also found the oil pressure sending unit leaking badly and replaced that as well (fairly cheap). That was the root of an oil leak I never was able to figure out.
So, all is dry and sealed as good as new.
Sold this truck shortly after for $5K, and the new owner is getting a really good truck with low miles and a lot of repaired/replaced stuff. I would have kept it, but am not Jay Leno. My yard looked like a used car lot for the last few years and now looks "normal" again.
