2006 F350 6.0 4x4 . No WIF, but went to drain the HFCM and where the Allen bolt should be I found what is pictured below. WTF is happening here? I bought the upgraded part and was going to drain and then fit it but I have no clue how to get this off and if I do it looks like I could be left with damage. The third pic is from the top looking down. Apologies of they're too big. I searched over and over and saw lots of references to rounded off HFCM bolts but didn't find anything like this. Please help.
I've owned the truck for 12 months and it needed some TLC when I first got her, but now runs great after I changed the fuel filters, transmission fluid and filters (ext one was a pita it was on solid), oil (Rotella T6 w Archoil 9100, plus new drain bolt as was rounded off) and the coolant (stuck with Gold). I'm pretty handy but the above has me stumped. Just coming up on 200k.

As long as you have the tool to remove the lines it's not an issue. If I remember correctly, the lines towards the tank are just pushed in, no tool needed.
Not sure if you have dealt with the epoxied cap yet, but if not, here's an idea. Or at least what I would try if I found myself in this situation. I would purchase a new cover kit and then remove the cover from the truck and take a small die grinder and see if you can remove the epoxy and expose the drain plug. You may even be able to heat the epoxy with a propane torch, being really careful not to overheat the cover, and melt some of the goo away. If you can get to the plug, you might be able to remove it. You may then be able to re-use the cover and not have to use the new one. Chances are you will find that the drain port has stripped threads, you would also want to be prepared for that. I'm sure there are drain repair kits out there for these things. But if things go well, you can return the new cover and regain use of the drain port. And at the same time, if it all goes to heck, you have a new cover in hand and won't have to wait a few days for one to come via UPS.
Or, to get expensive, that is, if you have too much money, you could take the HFCM off and throw it away, and for about $850 you could install one of these units with 2 screw on filters and the fuel pump. This looks to me like a superior system over the stock setup, but I'm not sure if it is how I would go just due to the high cost! But i like the fuel/water separator in a filter like that, easily replaced.
