Ok, you guys with shaved door handles. What are you using for remote access (fob). I bought a Spal shaved-8 7 function remote access kit from a fellow rodder three or four years ago. Finally pulled it off the shelf to incorporate into my door lock circuit. Guess what ?? DOA. And he died a couple years ago. Call SPAL tech support and after trying a few things and verifying I had it wired correctly, the tech says "bad control module".. just return it to vendor and get a new one. Well, that ain't gonna happen is it ??
Recommend a unit that has two or three (or more channels) for doors and hood, etc. Don't need solenoid kits... just the remote entry part. Lots on the WWW froim 12 bucks to 400... gotta be something good that's affordable...
thanks John, just ordered their 4 function w/o relays since mine is already a wired circuit.... think I just need to parallel the remote controller to the switch I have in circuit to supply the 12vdc+ to the solenoid...
might look at using function 3&4 to the hood circuit... could add to the cool factor raising the hood from outside... and we just got to be cool, right. Maybe I should get used to wearing my hat backwards and tucking my t-shirt behind my belt buckle and leave the rest hanging out... I'd be so hipster... just like the rice burner boys !
John,
I hope that installing the mechanical pieces of the remote parts in the door is more straight forward in your truck than for the bonus built trucks. I had to do a bit of engineering and fab to incorporate the original key lock to also function, way too many hours!
The Altman lock system is easy to install the remotes on and actually a must to function properly..
John, there is a really long range with that Watson's control..
