Well, after lurking for quite a while I finally figured I should just go ahead and join.. Just picked up a 47 (2 years ago) and am about to start the build. Got the truck, oil field crashed, had no spare change so in the barn she sat. Now that I finally have some extra again, I'm super excited to bring it in the garage and start working on it finally.

I have a line on a guy that's local for my sheet metal needs, so I have that covered. Nothing else though.. Haha. LMC only has 48+ on the website. I can't imagine that there is a whole heckuva lot of difference in the 47 and the 48+ trucks, but then again I don't know either. Where is everyone finding parts? Aside from swap meets and Ebay, is there a good website that's dedicated to parts for these old girls?

Any advice/pointers from those who have built one of these in the past? I'm super excited about it, but kind of intimidated at the same time.

Sorry for the long read, I look forward to learning as much as I can and hopefully get this thing on the road in a few years.

Welcome aboard. Lots of knowledgeable folks here to help. First '47 and '48 trucks are two different animals IMO. '48 was the first year of the 8rt series flathead V8 in trucks The 8ba was introduced in passenger cars in '49 and continued through '53. Flathead V8's were available in Canadian trucks into '54. As far as parts sources go, here are a few that I have personally used but there are others as well.
