flappy shoulder strap seat belt

anyone have a shoulder belt that flaps in the wind when the window is down? it drives me crazy, its the part of the belt that runs down the inside of the cab to the belt roller on the floor, its like the belt needs a sleeve on it or something to hold it from flapping

Cool

Just close your windows, and turn on the a/c, or heat, as the season requires!

My 91 does that. I have found if I open the wind wing a little it will stop flapping.

open the vent window hey hmmm! I'll try that. supercab that is the most logical suggestion, but on a beautiful day I love to have the window down, its like I have to make some kind of belt holder to stop the belt from flapping

Your supposed to wear the seat belt, ya know! It won't flap if you wear it. As far as the passenger side, just keep that window up.

On my truck it flaps with me sitting in the passenger seat with the seat belt fastened, unless I open the wind wing.

Same thing happens to me, but I just fiddle with the windows a bit until it calms down. This is while wearing the belt.

Maybe has something to do with the retractor not working ??

Im my '89, the only solution I've found is to periodically pull the shoulder webbing down quickly, then release. I'm a smoker, so every time I reach down for the lighter and sit back up, I get flappy belt syndrome. A quick tug on the shoulder strap rectifies the situation, no matter which windows are open. Once the belt is tight, the key then is to not lean forward slowly.

My 2¢...

bubba shrimp I tried opening the vent window a bit, your right it works, when you open the vent window it must deflect the air so it doesn't come in the side window so hard.

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution. Glad it worked for you.

Sounds like your spring tension in your belt is weak and you may want to adjust the tension or replace the belt assembly

while we are on the subject, my driver side retractor does not work. This is very annoying. Would anyone have an idea of how to fix this without tearing the interior panels off my truck and just replacing it? Any tricks?

I was just being annoyed by the belt flap on the passenger side today in my 92 Crew Cab, as I drove along with both front windows down. It only happens when no one is in the pass seat (everyone wears belts in my truck). I dont know if the drivers side flaps when no one is in it but Im guessing it would if I ever drove the truck from the other seat. I would like to know if and how the tension can be adjusted a little tighter too.
