2007 f 150 transmission
my tranny finally went to tranny heaven after 200,000 rough miles, my question is I need to replace her and I found a transmission with low miles that came out of a 1994 F150 4x4 with a 5.8
will this fit my 2007 F150 5,4 4x4, any help will really be appreciated.
thanks

The transmission out of your '07 is a computer controlled unit (via the PCM). The one out of the '94 is not. That's the first issue that you can't really get around. There are other issues, but it's pointless to go through them. Bottom line is the '94 tranny won't work.
Get yourself a manufactured unit or have your existing transmission rebuilt by a reputable shop.

The 4R75W was used in Mercury Mauraders and Ford Crown Vic's (Police Interceptors). The 4R75E was used in the F150 from 2004 (not Heritage) through 2010 I believe. They are internally identical, but the 75E is electronically controlled and has an extra electronic speed sensor which helps control the shifts. If you swap in a 4R75W, you'll have two main issues. First, and foremost, the transmission will not shift properly. heck, it probably won't even shift out of 1st gear. Also, less importantly unless you live in a state like California, your CEL will be constantly on and your PCM will always be throwing a code. It'll be hard, if not impossible, to get it past smog inspection that way.

I just replaced the tranny in my '07 F150. Mine is a 4.6 and it had the 4R70W. I suggest factory remanufactured one. If you do have it rebuilt, spend the $ and replace the front drum with the Sonnax forged drum. The OEM drums are cast and they have a tendency to break at the snapring groove.
I have a 100K mile warranty on mine. If you do the reman route, visit shops that replace transmissions and ask who they use. Everyone in my little town uses Jasper because of fewer comebacks and warranty issues. The transmission comes with a rebuilt torque converter.

I agree with the reman. A good warranty is never a bad thing on a tranny. If you cannot afford it, take it to someone who understands a rebuild of a 4R75E. But honestly, the cost would be about the same I think, don't quote me on it. I think Rumble Phish got a reman, maybe he can steer you in the right direction of a reliable tranny with a good warranty.

I think that your baseline should be Ford. Get a quote from dealership for parts and labor. Next stop would be a national chain, like AAMCO. Not that you are actually going to buy & install from either, but you will have something to compare to when sourcing parts and labor. Ask questions. Ask about sourcing. Ask about warranty. Does warranty pro-rate, or is it 100%? Will warranty cover cost of parts & labor? Now ask about technology. Is the transmission rebuilt with a shift kit? Is the remanufactured transmission engineered to address issues which the original transmission was known for? Get a total "out the door" cost figure, for everything that you want. I've noticed that some online transmission start at a low price, then you pay more for other things as you actually "upgrade" to better parts.

Mr. Burch is active on several web forums, has provided a lot of good advice, and he could be your 1st & last source.

Monster is very aggressive with their marketing and product placement. The company is large enough, that they could help you finance your transmission. Everyone else expects you to already have a major credit card. But if you just don't have cash, or consumer credit in your wallet, then this company may be an option.
I recommend nothing and nobody. I have no 1st hand experience buying a remanufactured 4R75E from anybody, so my opinion is not relevant. It does you no good to hear about the transmission I installed in an import, 15 years ago; as that has no relevance to your truck today.
I look forward to input from forum members who can share their experience with the remanufactured transmission they bought, how well it worked or didn't work, et cetera.
Ultimately, you will need to decide on what makes sense to you. Not just cost to buy the part, but cost of installation as well. You may just find a competitive local mechanic who will rebuild your transmission, and offer a 3 - 5 year warranty, to compete with whatever the national chains and dealerships are offering.

Fraser Engines
I put in a remanufactured engine AND transmission from Fraser Engines and I HIGHLY recommend them.
The transmission was $2500 + a $500 core deposit. The standard warranty is 5 years/100,000 miles, but I opted to spring for the 7 year/unlimited mileage warranty ($250). The cost to have it installed was $750. My buddy is a mechanic and gave me a great deal, as it would normally go for $1200 at standard rates.
I have about 1000 miles on the transmission, and about 2000 miles on the engine and so far, so good.

Stay away from Monster Transmission
I've read many more negative reviews re: Monster Transmission, their products, and their services than I have read positive ones. Especially re: their warranty and customer service.
Stick with Jasper, Fraser, and Powertrain. Or go Ford.
P.S. - they all get them from the same place anyway. It all comes down to service, warranty, and price.

If you have a trans shop in town, you could check them too. I had mine rebuilt at a local shop about 100000 miles ago and it's been great. They did the rebuild there in shop, and they got it done in a couple days time. Came with warranty, of course its not a nationwide warranty, just a warranty through their shop. But if it's a shop in the town you live in and you don't plan to move away anytime soon, that's not such a bad thing.
