Exhaust manifolds with side mounts.

Wanting to put a 272 in a 1947 I/2 ton with orig trans, haven't done any measuring yet, was wanting to use ram's horn manifolds, would side mounts interfere with that? I do have the truck timing cover and have seen mounts made off of it, does anybody have any first hand experience with a swap like that?

My Dad installed a 292 in his '47 tonner in the mid 60s and had to cave the steering column tube in with a ball peen hammer for clearance for the rear spark plug. That 292 ran really good in the tonner.
