so this might be a bit long winded so i randomly bought i 83 302 block to build with nothing to put it in so after a few years i got it finished and blew up the wifes explorer so i picked up a 85 f150 with a 300 i6 and three on the tree swapped in the 302 and it seemed kinda slow and the trans was wore out so i decided on a trans and gear swap well i discovered the truck had 2.47 gears god that sucked so i swapped in some 3.73 gears that woke it up then i [put in a m5r2 and that was really fun till i killed the second gear synchro im on the hunt for another trans i found a m5r2 from a 4.2 v6 i know it uses the same bolt pattern but is there anything else i need to know about swapping in that trans?

 

What year and what truck did a 4.2 v6 come out of?

That trans will not be set up for the cable speedometer. Since the truck originally had a 3-on-the-tree, I assume it was a 2wd? For a 2wd F150, 1988-1991 were the only years the M5R2 had cable speedo.
