Im putting a hitch on a minnie winnie with an 86' E350 chassis. The Ford owners manual say not to connect a trailer lighting system directly to the vehicle lighting system. (There is no existing plug from the harness in the rear of the chasis.) Anybody know how to wire this baby per Ford's specs?

 

I would skin back the wires to the lights and tap into it that way. I don't see how it would hurt it. That's how my truck came wired.

 

Thanks dtpatt2. That' what the Ford dealer siad too. I can't see why I would need a relay in the system, especially on an 86'. It's not as if it's got a full on cpu in it. Some of those egineers like to complicate things!
