Priming Oil Pump 292 V8
Just filled my rebuild 292 V8 with 5 quarts of the proper ZDDP oil. Was priming oil pump CCW watching for oil to come up to the valves and no oil. Looked under the engine and a big puddle of oil. It appears it is coming out to the bottom hole in the dust cover on the clutch/bell housings - not other places I would expect on an exterior oil pump. Must be coming out somewhere near the rear of the engine. Not familiar with these engines, their oil routes and such. Just baffled as this is a rebuilt engine. So asking before I pull the transmission and engine back out whether its something easy or what someone might think it is. Any help appreciated

Another guess: Oil might be coming from rear cam shaft hole. There should be a soft plug there. Or (CRS) maybe from the lifter galley plugs (Ford did have problems with the FE and FT engines in the 70's. Easier to check around the oil filter first, before removing the transmission and clutch/bell housing. No need to pull the engine. Some rebuilders have installed the camshaft bearings WITHOUT lining up the hole for lubing the rockers
