On the way to class tonight I passed a Lexus dealers "tow" truck.. Now Lexus is owned by GM (Gm owns Toyota, Lexus is a division of Toyota.) IT WAS A FORD! An F350 SuperDuty, dually with a 5th wheel car hauler...... Thought it was a testament to the power and reliability thought of the dealer.
Hey, Toy is independent. They have a joint plant in Cali (NUMMI in Fremont, CA), and GMs best cars in terms of quality are Toyota-made, but that's as far as that goes.
Neither GM or Dodge make a truck that is tough enough to handle serious towing anymore.
If you ever see a tractor being towed, it will be so by a Ford or an International.
I believe that even fords newer trucks can't possibly compare with the dependability of the older rigs.
A few weeks ago I was sitting at the gas station and I saw a Chevy dealer pull up in a F650 flatbed with a GMC 3500 HD Duramax on the back, he put some diesel in the duramax truck and tried to start it right there. After cranking until the battery was dead, he gave up and drove off. I watched the whole thing with anticipation that he might just get it started. I chuckled and started up my old ford and happily drove off. It was a good day.
I was thinking a while back that the Toyota Matrix and the Pontiac Vibe looked pretty much the same. Then what did I learn from someone?? Toyota made the Vibe! HAHAHA! Sad day at GM!
