Have you tried to start it from the solenoid? Did the problem exist before you changed the solenoid?

Check if there's 12v to the solenoid when the key is turned. If not the switch is probably bad. If it clicks the starter is bad.

Are you getting 12V to the S terminal on the solenoid with the key in the start position?

On my '68 the nss is at the base of the steering column inside the truck. Short the 2 wires together to bypass it. Mine failed in the '70s and I haven't had one on it since. Connect a 12v jumper from the battery to the s terminal of the solenoid and see if it cranks. You'll have to turn the key on first.

The NSS on my F100 is the same way. Been like that as long as I can remember. Gotta push the gear selector up just a bit to get it to crank.

Think of it as a anti-theft feature!
