Probes had optional 3.0L Vulcan engines in 1990-'92...they never came equipped with a DOHC 3.0L (I've read that one was planned but that the idea was scrapped).
Aside from the Duratec 3.0L engine found in the newer Taurus and Sables (1996 - present), the only other "Ford" DOHC 3.0L is actually a Yamaha-built motor which is found in the 1989-1995 Taurus SHOs with standard transmissions.

From 1993-97 they did come with a 24 V DOHC- it was a 2.5 L not a 3.0. Rockledge is absolutely correct about the 3.0 engine and years it was offered. This is probably a prototype or a custom build.
