i have always liked the platinum tail gate cover and have wanted to add to my truck
could either buy tail gate and painty my color ( they don't come in color of my truck)
or buy cover and drill my tail gate to fit (about 25 holes)
my first choice is to buy a platinum tail gate but would need to remove the cover to properly paint the tail gate, i am wondering if there is a way to get the cover off with out damaging it?

Remove the interior covers and you'll see 16 or so plastic body panel fasteners that hold the panel on the tailgate. Push those through from the inside. You can search for videos that show you step by step how it works.
thanks, didn't know if you could reach all the clips
and i saw a platinum cover at dealer and it looked like the retaining clips would break when released
the videos i saw on the SD used a torch to cut the back of the tail gate open
is that what you were referring to?
don't want to destroy the tailgate to get platinum cover off

No, you don't have to cut anything. And yes, you're likely to break some clips if it's an old panel but they're cheap to replace. I think there's two bolts behind the Ford emblem that need to come out.
thanks
i was told at dealer they don't sell the clips seperate
also thats good news don't have to cut up the tail gete
looks like you would need to squeeze every clip to release them
