Flatbed f150

Thought I'd throw this up for you guys to see.
With some help for a welding friend built this deck on my f150 over the last while.
Completed today and seems pretty solid, am liking the weight on truck, the ride is nice.
I am far from an expert but have now built one from scratch .
Happy to answer any questions if ever needed.

still fabbing up parts and pieces

Sandblasted steel and put about 5 coats of pit tech paint and on to final assembly

First trip around the block today.

I think that looks kick *** ! The workmanship is anything but " home built " . Really nice Job. What do you guestimate you had for cost in Steel, alone ?
You Fab'd the wheel well splash guards...what did you use, pls ?

Thanks, my welder friend set me up to get a bargain at one of his suppliers. I got 2 pieces of 1/4" 10' long by about 4' wide for about $180-$200.

A little heavy duty for a half ton but now that it's done the weight makes the ride quite nice.

A plasma cut everything apart and we only had a small amount of waste, the fenders were made from 5 pieces of the 1/4" and we put a lip around the ouside to keep mud and rocks down.

The main frame of the deck was from a much larger deck that came with the truck when I bought it .
Frame was cut appart, shortened, narrowed and a bunch of just cut off it.
Cleaned up and put back together.
Im a wood guy so got my hands on some old growth Douglas fir for deck and some ash for sides.
Stained wood and sealed w double boiled linseed oil.
Truck is putting my boat in for first time today !
Now that have majority of bugs worked out I'm quite enjoying driving my Ford !

Back to original question, I would have no more than 2-$300 into iron for project but was able to scrounge quite a bit of bits and pieces from scrap.
