Looking for an effective TAILGATE SEAL for 2019 F350...not to fill the floor/gate gap as much as the two vertical sides. I don’t recall being able to see into my bed with my 2004 like I can with the 2019. Does anybody have an effective seal to fill the space? Thanks.
I used several layers of the foam weather strip for residential doors. You cant see it when the tailgate is closed. It looks like garbage when the tailgate is open but it serves its purpose. I tried the rubber seal but it is not nearly thick enough. Some of the gaps are huge
Thanks, guys, so you applied it to the tailgate NOT to the box sides, correct?
...and if so, to the ‘rearmost’ panel of the tailgate, not to the latch sides of the tailgate, correct?
Thanks again.
I put it on the bed, not the tailgate. I put a single row of weather strip on the bed around the area where the tailgate closed, then I closed the tailgate and looked for openings. I kept adding layers until i no longer saw gaps or daylight through. It worked great for keeping dust and water out. Like I said before, I used regular residential foam weather strip from Home Depot or Lowes. It cost a few dollars per role. You should be able to seal up your tailgate for under $15.
Hopefully someone will chime in with a better idea but for the $, this is the cheapest and easiest way that I found.
To get a good seal I applied to tailgate and the box sides. I would add a piece then check for light getting through. It took 2 sets to block all light. Some dust and water still get through.
Thank you...it is a very odd-shaped gap, definitely will take some trial and error...it occurred to me that McMaster-Carr may have the right stuff, they have everything that you cannot find easily locally, everything has full specifications making it easy to order online, and most shipments are received in one or two days!
I just bought a Leer topper for my 2020 150 xlt and after I paint it and mount it I was going to see if any of the deere weatherstripping that I have laying around will work to fill that enormous void that I see. Don't know about you all but I can also see daylight coming from the front corners where the sides and front meet
