Check your state

in ny, 350’s/450’s are over 6000 gvwr and have to be registered commercial.

theres a clause if you have a camper top, bed, camping equipment.

Thanks guys keep the info coming...

the 2005 current truck will be sold private party. I actually have it for sale on here among other places for 19k and i have had quite a bit of interest in it. I will take what i get for the current truck, add about 13k cash i saved up, and go from there. Assuming best case i got 19k for my current rig, i would put down about 32k and finance the rest. Im trying to stay under 45k total after taxes title, etc. If someone wants a built 6.0 that hauls ***, and built correctly, buy mine so i can buy my new truck. Lol.

I checked with my ins company, and itll only be 20 bucks more a month to insure with full coverage vs what i currently have now.

I currently live in california, but i have property out of state and we bounce between the 2. The truck will spend time there, and be registered there as well.

The pin weight on the trailer is 3450. This trailer is no joke vs my old one with 11k gvwr lol.

The 450 that i found has the gray "leather" or whatever the hell it is. It looks.similar to whats in my 05. Im not sure if it has carpet, but if not i can add it. Not a biggie.

The 450 is going to be more expensive to own and operate than the 350. The rear end is 4.3 so mileage will suck, I get 9-10MOG towing with mine and 12ishMPG unloaded. Insurance is a little higher and not everyone will finance one as they consider it a commercial vehicle. Mine is financed with USAA but, they initially said they wouldn't finance anything heavier than an F350, I had to escalate that up the chain of command. Registration here is based by GVWR so, my annual registration is more expensive as well. It's nice to be able to put 4,000 pounds of feed in the bed instead of needing a trailer but, in retrospect I kind of wish I'd gone with the F350 we liked instead. If you need what the F450 offers, by all means get it but, if an F350 will do the job, it'll save you enough money to notice.

Nice trailer. I can't wait until we have one. If the 350 would do it, why couldn't you just get 19.5 wheels and tires for the 350 so it would feel better and handle better with the medium duty wheels and tires? Then you could enjoy a more reasonable gear ratio like 3.73 or 4.11s for better fuel mileage. Just saying. Good luck.

The 7.5 FOOT tighter turning circle is reason enough to go with the F450. Makes a big difference normal driving AND backing a big trailer. You will be amazed. It will make you look good backing into a tight spot, trust me.
Next, the brakes on the 2017 F450 are much larger, about 50% larger in every catagory.
In fact, according to the Ford Body Builders Guide, the f450 pickup has the same brakes as the F450 C&C and the F550.
Same rear axle also.
It will also have much higher capacity 19.5 tires and wheels.

2017+ is a much better truck, especially the frame. More power, bigger brakes, and a MUCH bigger back seat are also very nice changes for 2017. I'm very happy with my 2017 F450. It's loaded, but even if it was a basic model, it is VERY capable. The maneuverability, similar mileage to the F350 DRW, and many other benefits should be considered.

Thank you very much for all the info guys, i contacted the dealer that has the 450 today as i was wanting info on shipping, but when i checked the specs and looked at the vin and door tag, i unfortunately discovered that its a cab and chassis model so 330hp and 750tq if im not mistaken. I really liked it too. I did some reading and its my impression that the difference power wise isnt easy to rectify. If so, i could have it retuned, change turbo, etc. I also am a bit weary of the large leaf packs that it has, and the bad ride quality that it would have unloaded. Im keeping my eyes peeled, but i did find a very nice 2015 350 dually lariat ultimate that i would consider buying, but i will still look for a 450 thats feasable. If yall have any info.lemme know, i was quite bummed about that 450 lol.

Actually looking at the.differences between a 2017 450 and 2015 350 its very close

The 2015 350 is rated at 24,200 5th wheel trailer weight the way its being sold,

The 2017 450 cab and chassis is rated at 24,000 the way its being sold lol. Very close.

Despite it's lesser payload rating (year for year) the F450 IS still a much stronger tow vehicle.
Generally a Lariat (vs XL trim) will be the clear winner in features, but only matter if the added features are of any value to you.

You've got a tough decision, which is most important to you?

I just noticed, originally you were comparing a 2012 - now its a 2015.

Yea, guy at the dealer with the 2012 was a complete ***. That and the smaller turbo, lack of real exhaust brake etc.

Im more concerned about safety than hauling ***, but i just wanna make sure that a 450 cab and.chassis pickup conversion isnt gonna give my 10 month old daughter shaken baby syndrome if i take her on a drive with me without weight in the bed. I know a 350.will be more.comfy. i just.dont know by how much, ive never driven a 6.7. I know that my 05 shakes the crap outta u on the fwy with an empty bed lol.

As much as I like my F450, there is no way I'd get a C&C as a family hauler. The suspension is not designed to run unloaded. It will be way too rough.
