Tacson, instead of e-mailing you, I thought I'd ask you here, could(for the last time) send me the pics of the install? My computer crashed and I lost all the pics for the suspension install thread. It would be highly appricated. -4speed

Gang,

I need to make a correction to something I stated regarding the FOMOCO clips. The Front Steer 80-91 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town car front ends are to wide for an F-1 they go straight out and will interfere with remounting sheetmetal. The 65-68 FOMOCO Fullsize passenger front end is more ideally suited to the F-1. One could use Mid 70's Midsize FOMOCO passenger vehicles spindles and replace stock drum brakes that were on the 65-68 cars. I was Wrong. Hope no one harmed by it. Thanks Soon as I can figure out to how put pictures in a post I will post a Rear Steer clip on a 56 F100 frame and show what I am talking about.

If someone can send me an e-mail letting me know exactly how the corrections should be worded, I'd be more than happy to edit the suspension alternative "sticky" for you.

Kenny where I have

"The chassis of the ‘53-‘56 F-100 is a bit wide for an optimum install. The Ford clip is almost perfect width for a ‘48-‘52 F-1. Gusseting is necessary to address the width differences."

Underneath the install time. I need it to be reworded like this.

"The Front Steer 80-91 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town car front ends are to wide for an F-1 they go straight out and will interfere with remounting sheetmetal. The 65-68 FOMOCO Fullsize passenger front end is more ideally suited to the F-1. A Kenny how you put pictures in a post?

Thanks for the addition of the galaxie clip! Previous owner added 65 galaxie clip (along with many other parts) to my F1 and I LOVE the ride. I like it better than the volare in the panel!

One issue I have with it is the way it was done. Apparently it was done 15 years ago and driven daily since, frame guy says it looks good right now, but for my peace of mind I would like a little more reinforcement. The front clip fromt he galaxie fits exactly along the outside of the F1 frame. Know what I mean? I would like to weld some reinforcement there.

I appreciate this thread! Thanks!

Keahi73,

Sorry for the initial omission and mistake. I just got my thoughts mixed up. I am glad to know you like the ride of a Fullsize Ford clip. Your clip is similiar/interchangeable with the 71' LTD/Galaxie clip that Ms. Michelle's http://www.michellesfords.com/ has on her truck. My wife likes the ride of my clip, 87 Crown Victoria, especially when she is driving to Home Depot to buy furnishings for the Kitchen and the bedroom remodeling she is constantly in a state of. She does home projects like we guys do truck projects collecting many parts with many GREAT ideas. HA! HA!

is there a specific reason the crown vic/grand marquis is left off at 1991. If it is just cost I have a complete 2000 that I could use. This is my first build but I do have plenty of welding and fabricating exp.(heavy equipment).

David,

The only thing changed on the 92-I think 2003 was the upper control arm. Otherwise everything is the same. The later model 92- on will work. I saw a red 56' at the 2003 F100 Nats with a 96' Crown Vic front end. If I can find my pictures I will post it. The guy that taught me has used the whole gamut of FOMOCO front ends from 65-91. He is going to probably put a 2003 Marauder front end on a 56' Panel for a guy and use the complete drivetrain. SO in summation the later model is the same minus the upper control arms. Hope this helps

More Crown Vic clip pictures. This is a 95 model CV clip on a 56 Frame. Notice the different design on the upper control arm compared to a 91 - on back

Here's some pics of the 87 Town Car clip on my 53.

Wish they were a little clearer, but when I start rolling on my project, I forget to stop for pics.
