I had just heard about a couple of shops in Nevada that were closed down for performing deletes. Seems it a violation of federal law? Anyone know more about this?

It is a violation of Federal Law to delete and circumvent the emissions systems on any vehicle that is used on any road. If you are pulled over, and they do a vehicle check that finds you in violation, they can put you out of service.

Thankfully I have 2 dealers in my area that are exactly the opposite. They do everything they can to see if they can "fit" the issue into a warranty claim. Including leaving the "ticket" opened until the truck is used for a few days to make sure the issue is resolved so I avoid paying another $100.00 deductible.

I'm glad to know there are honest and moral shops with integrity as their first name. I just don't know when you may pull into one that is not.

It's sad our nation is so sue crazy, vicious and dog-eat-dog. I'm getting afraid to help. I was told by a wrecker driver that I assume full responsibility for pulling people out. Well, I still do.

They thought they could take advantage of you. Sad.

If DEF were different then I would probably be in deep poo. I always top off the def whenever I stop at a truck stop to fill. I haven't had a DEF issue so far. The service writer and tech were wrong. You went a different route than I would have. My next call would have been to factory rep. Fortunately my local dealer has been great to me. If I would have been told that excuse I would be looking for a different dealership for service in the future, including any future purchases.

DEF is DEF.
No difference in Motorcraft, Wal-Mart, Blue Def, Rotella DEF or Traveller DEF at TSC.
The service writer and tech might haver a double digit IQ if added together.
Glad you got it worked out.
