Flexplate: 24oz vs 28oz

Looking at replacement flexplate (1986 460/c6) and noticed that most are 24oz but the Hayes HD is 28oz. I called Hayes support and was told they were interchangeable as long as the torque converter was compatible.
First, I thought any 460 flexplate was made to fit a C6 or is that not right?

Second, anyone know about the 24 vs 28?

It depends on the year. Later ones ( '79 to end ) were counterweighted. The earlier ones are neutral. I don't know whats up with different weights but one thing I'd bet on is, 4 ounces is going to be enough to make it shake, so I would get that figured out.

Thanks. Do you know if 24 is correct? If so, I'll just go with the pioneer version. Wanted to step up a little but not if it is going to cause issues.

Decided to go with the stock fra-230. I called and spoke to a different Hayes tech rep and was told that because the flexplate was heavier overall it needs a heavier weight to account for it. That makes no sense to me so not worth risking it.
