Angry rotten truck bed cross members

i was wondering if there a is reason that i couldnt take my bed off and just use tube steel to make new cross members. my bed isnt rotted but the cross members are gone making the bed sag horribly and making it so that i cant put any heavy in it,

You can do that and weld in all the new steel you want. I've seen people use Uni-Strut P5500 and P5501 to do just this very thing. Any electrical or plumbing supply house should carry it, or be able to get it for you.

Ive done it and used square tubing from my local steel supplier. Probably overkill but i doubt ill have to worry about rust through for a while

I have the drivers side front corner went. Everything else is still tight. I am gonna cut a piece of vinyl 5/4 board and wedge it under the front bed lip. Hopefully this will get me by for a min. I tow more then haul weight in the bed. I am not a fan of flat beds so I am gonna have to keep this bed as long as I can.
