The orange one is the temperature sensor, leave it alone, just change the black ones and make sure you match up the stripe end so they aren’t put in backwards.

Try adding solder to the connection first, the oil has probably caused an oxide layer to form that is preventing the solder from melting, adding more solder also adds flux that can help clean off this layer and allow it to melt.

Yeah the flux did the trick. The solenoid body has been repaired, thank you for your help. The multimeter values check out again as well as a click heard on every solenoid when power is applied so I can safely rule out this being the issue for the hard shift. I feel like everyone is pretty much out of ideas here but thank you all anyways. I will pull the transmission harness completely and check it for any exposed wires and if there is no miracle there then its going to the shop I guess.
Well I was desperately hoping you would find your issue. I own a 1990 E150 we bought used that has a weird shifting issue I could never figure out either. Was told it wasn't the transmission which further baffled me.
