Turn signal lever on 1962 F100

Steering column

Side view where lever enters
hello FTE! Ok need help you experts out there! I have been having issues with turn signal. I have had to identify where turn signals had some connection issues. I had to jiggle turn signal to get rear brake lights to work properly. Did a good cleaning with mechanical spray connector cleaner. Certainly an improvement. However turn signal lever still loose in fact it can be simply pulled out. There is no apparent screw or method to tighten. Can someone tell me how to tighten this lever? Is this a 1962 column? I looked on the column as shown and can’t see any obvious screw or method to secure this lever turn signal arm.

Also so does anyone know if this assembly can be replaced and where to find it? I didn’t see the mechanism on LMC truck and not even sure what it is called.

Thank you!

Pete

1961/62 F100/250 2WD have a turn signal cancelling plate (visible in pics #1 & #2 in post 1) that the T/S handle threads into. The switch is a separate part.

The T/S cancelling plate, switch and handle are the same as 1960/62 Falcon/Comet.

If the T/S handle just pulls out, it's the wrong handle or the threads in the plate are stripped.

See 1961-62 in parts catalog pic. Basic part numbers: 13304 is the plate, 13305 is the handle, 13341 is the switch.

You are awesome thank you so very much! I am beginning to search for these parts now! It does look like it can be removed and replaced so I am hoping i can find them. I keep getting intermittent issues sometimes I get left turn signal to work and sometimes it doesn’t I have to wiggle the plate a bit to get turn signal to work. Now the front turn signal isn’t working when the parking lights are on. I am beginning to think just replacing all three of these components is the best approach. Any thoughts.? I did see parts on eBay bu they mention the numbers you reference with A or B following is there a difference?

Thank you Bill! I am always amazed at your knowledge as I read some of these threads! You have helped a great many folks so thank you! Bill when you say obsolete does that mean no longer being produced? Or does that mean when I call these sites to ask for the obsolete parts section? Since I am quite new to this restoration process the NOS means New Old Stock. Is that correct? So your recommendation is to purchase these 3 items to give me a complete replacement of this area in the photo. Bill so sorry to ask but what does the A* or AP* after the parts mean? And also the CODF or C2DZ or CODZ prior to the part number? As I have been searching for these parts from your first email (13304, 13305, 13341) I got different sites with the different number prior and after so not sure what difference it makes in the purchase or compatibility to replacing. I have seen some NOS that seem to be new and others that certainly look used so still trying to understand the differences.

What does the secret decoder ring of NumberDummy say Thank you Bill!

Pete,

Lots of resources out there to decode Ford part numbers.

In general tetms; the prefix, or first four characters describe when the part first appeared and a general application. The first character is the decade B=1950's, C=1960's etc. The second character is the specific year B0=1950, B1=1951, etc.. The third character describes the model and changed through the years T=truck, the final character in the prefix is the engineering group, example E=engine, Z= service part.

The next number or alphanumeric set is the basic part number or group number.

The suffix is sequential revisions to a particular part.

There are plenty of nuances and exceptions so it's best to consult an expert like Bill when you have a question or look it up in a parts book.

Same 3 spoke 17" diameter steering wheel: 1960/63 Falcon/Comet; 1961/70 F100/250 2WD; 1966/70 F100 4WD; 1966/73 Bronco; 1967/70 F250 4WD; 1969/70 F350.

Reproduced by Dennis Carpenter in black only.

thank you very much! That was very helpful! This has been a huge learning curve for me and I really appreciate all the help form FTE members! Thank you! Part of the challenge is to determine who is the best source to purchase from and most of teh time it is from a photo that you hope matches the part you have. Especially when your a newbie at the restoration process and car mechanics in general.

Again my gratitude!

Pete
