I remember in 2003 when I was a senior in high school going through one of The car magazines and reading about the new 2003 f150. I really wanted to buy a blue extended cab fx4. I ended up going completely opposite and I bought a low mileage 1996 f350 regular cab 4x4 7.3 dually with an Eby aluminum flatbed. How I kiss that truck. These days I drove a 1997 f250 crew cab short bed 7.3 and a 2004 6.0 excursion. I have 4 kids so the cargo I hauled has changed over the years.
Anyways in that magazine I remember reading about how all can configurations would have 4 doors going forward. I've seen several but it must've only lasted a couple of years. Information on the web is hard to come by on when and why they stopped making them. I always thought it was pretty cool. Who wants to take me back in time and school me on the 4 door regular cab f150?
I don't recall ever hearing or seeing anything about a 4-door "regular" cab F-150. I can't even see how that is possible. There are standard cabs (2 door), extended cabs (2 door), Super cabs (4 door w/half rear doors that open backwards), and Supercrew cabs (4 full size doors).
Here's my 4-door regular cab. The very narrow rear doors gain access to a slightly extended area behind the seat that really is handy. The cab is longer to accommodate the extra doors. The front doors are the regular size. I think '08 was the end of this cab as well as the manual trans.
