I assumed you no longer had the vacuum routing sticker. So, looks like a Cali model.

I was just looking for a Build/Mfr. Date or Build location off that sticker......

My label looks like this. DSO # is lower right.

 

DSO 47 is Cincinnati.

So his 1983 was built in Dallas .....
He said it came from Texas...

 

DSO refers to the Ford District Sales Office that the original selling dealer ordered the vehicle from.

It does not refer to the assembly plant where the vehicle was assembled.

DSO 52 = Dallas TX Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

1981 thru today: The assembly plant code is the 11th digit of the 17 digit VIN

But, there was no Dallas TX assembly plant after the 1970's.

 

11th digit of the 17 digit VIN is P (Twin Cities Assembly Plant; St. Paul, Minnesota)?
