Notice at the bottom of the drawing where it says "TYPICAL". So, don't go by the drawing 100% for your truck. You might have to combine the shop manual information with the text listing information in the MPC and work through it to sort it all out. And then the MPC could throw in the occasional error, too, just for fun.

That screenshot is from the 64 shop manual showing it on the front. But it is also the manual for the F100-350, so I'm not sure. When i disassembled it, they weren't there.

My F250 uses those, but it is a different spring for the fronts versus the rears. If your parking brake shoe link is in the way then it probably didn't have one on the backs. These springs are for the larger heavy duty brakes on the F250 2WD so just an example.

Front - C6TZ-2035-A - Red

Rear - C6TZ-2296-A - Green

in combination with what you're saying along with what the manual sounds like, it appears as if these werent required on my truck? In my mind atleast (which isnt always right), it seems as if the anchor springs in combination with the self adjuster spring at the bottom, should be all I need for the pads to properly contract and not see much benefit from installing those additional retracting springs?

Sounds reasonable to me. The curved anchor pins on the brakes like on my 2WD truck have no springs at all so they would let the shoes flap around WAY more than the straight anchor pins, springs and cups like on your setup. My 4WD trucks are a bit more like yours with the two springs connecting to the top stud, the two anchor pin springs and the one across the bottom for the adjuster. In this case it doesn't have any self-adjusters installed on this setup, it was manually adjusted only. Also no long retracting springs running from shoe to shoe like the pictures I posted.

If you want a good chuckle - these are the type of anchor pins used on the 12" x 2 1/2" brakes like on the 1966 F250 Camper Specials. It's a 1967 part number and I'm not sure of the original 1966 part number but this is what my Camper Special uses and no surrounding springs to accompany them.

Nice one haha. I cant even begin to imagine who the guys were sitting around the table that came up with that idea and were like, "Nailed it!".

Or if I am understanding the manual correct, the spring I am asking about is only for the 66 4x4?? And not needed on my truck?
What are you working on, 1964 F100 2WD or 4WD?

C0MM-2035-A/C0MM-2036-A are RETRACTING springs-primary & secondary, they are correct for 2WD .. The anchor (hold down) springs are basic number 2068

F100 4WD's use different retracting springs. The springs you circled were only used on 1966 F100 4WD .. 1966 F100 4WD's have coil spring front suspension.

Read post #2 again, notice I said retracting springs and listed their 2WD applications.

The C0MM's are the correct primary/secondary springs for 2WD's.

1959/65 F100 4WD's used 4 of the same retracting springs as 1955/59 Ford Passenger Cars (B5A-2035-A).

1966 F100 4WD's used one retracting spring-primary to secondary shoe-per side (C3AZ-2035-A), same as 1963/64 Galaxie.
