302 short block in a 68 f250

Hello all,

Ive been planning on cleaning up a pre 65 390 to put in my 68 f250. Im aware the motor mount bosses will need an adapter plate to fit. Theres an add on craigslist in my area for a complete 302 short block allegedly out of a 72 mustang.

Would the 302 fit like a glove or would there be complications?

Thanks in advance for any advice and help.

302 installed beginning in 1969 F100's, but no F250 had a 302 until 1980.

Let me re phrase this, would an early 70s 302 drop in and bolt up to a 68 f250 ?

Of course, you just have to use the engine perches/supports/stands. You need 2wd 69-79 302 F-100 perches, or 77-79 351M/400 perches. Or you can buy new ones from Autofab. You can not use your FE/Six perches. You will have to drill new holes for them. And use a new bell housing with the SBF pattern, or if auto, a SBF one.
