New to me truck questions
So I just moved on over from a 6.0 with 250k miles! She was a great truck until the heads basically let go and the machine shop took me for a run.
Anyways, I’ve been following the 6.7 for a few years and just picked up a 2014 F-350 with 46k miles. Also got the ESP which covers 6 years or 106k miles. Needless to say I’m happy. My question though, what if anything do I need to do for my rig so my family and I do not get stranded on one of our extended cross country trips?
I pulled my CTS2 Insight and the auxiliary fuel tank and already have those added. I’m planning on having a spare cold side CAC tube for the event that pops loose. Other than that, I cannot think of anything else other than enjoy a reliable rig.

If you have the cash I would recommend deleting the emission and installing a tuner. I had a reputable diesel performance shop do mine.
Also check on your auto insurance policy to see what roadside assistance is available. I also carry tools, heavy duty nylon straps for tying down stuff and an emergency roadside kit.

Trad, thank you for the reply! I’ll do the deletes after the warranty expires. Even though the truck is used, it’s the first one I’ve owned that has had a factory warranty in the last 15 years. Good call though on the straps and tools. I sell the old straps and buy new. We have a 40’ Energey Toy hauler. She’s a bumper pull, wish I could upgrade to a Raptor fifth wheel but the funds went into the new to me rig.

Just- I bought that pipe on eBay for $100 with free shipping. Many thanks for the link.
Other than this pipe it seems that Ford built a bullet proof truck. The dealer messed up paperwork and billed me for a 6.2 service plan and then gave me the 6.7 at that cost ($800 mistake on their end!). Our goal is to limit the amount of time wrenching and spend more time hauling the camper
Thanks for the reply’s!

There isn't much to be gained by deleting your truck for the money and time it takes. You needed to read the fine print on the ESP. I believe it covers the truck from the inservice date not from the day you got the truck. I could be wrong but that's my understanding on the matter.
These trucks are outstanding without removing the smog and blocking off the EGR. The DEF is cheap and you don't add that much unless you tow with your truck. Fuel millage isn't a issue ether because It doesn't use that much fuel during regen process. I have done many cross country trips with my truck and never left stranded. I have however had the CAC pipe come off. As a thing I would look at to make sure it's ok. Mine blew the rubber part off the plastic part under the band that is welded together. I just got another hose clamp from Ford and fixed it myself. Truck still had power just no boost. One more thing. Look under the truck at the oil pan. Mine had a leak and it is a 3 day job to fix it. It usually leaks by the back of the block back in the corner. It's easy to see the leak.

Isn't the emissions warranty for our Super Dutys (>8500GVWR) only 5 years or 50k miles?
As for the new to you 2014 F350, congrats! If you live in a cold weather area, make sure you get the factory pour nozzle that prevents overfilling the DEF tank so It won't freeze and crack the DEF tank fill neck. It fits on the factory 2.5 gallon bottle of DEF. I believe the 2.5 bottle is 10 dollars at the dealer. I buy DEF at Wal-Mart for about 7 something for the bottle. Then I pour it into the factory DEF bottle to use that nozzle. I also keep the DEF inside the house so it doesn't freeze.
