Any one stay overnight at Cracker Barrel restaurants? I have heard talk of it but whenever we pass one beside the freeway there doesn’t look like there is enough room to park a fifth wheel there. Although we did see someone stopped there on one occasion.
I have done it twice with my fifth wheel. Wife called ahead of time so we knew where to park to be out of the way of early morning deliveries and garbage trucks. There is usually an area reserved for bus parking, but I find that’s not where they want you, usually we end up on the outside of the lot around the curb. This works nice because we can put the slide out over the curb.
I’m not adverse to it, but since they’re not open I don’t see much point in stopping there. I’m more of a Walmart kind of guy. They’ve got everything I need including a restroom. Stayed at a Walmart in Manakin Sabot, Virginia last night that was pretty good.
Sam Walton was an avid camper so I guess he may have passed the directive down. So many campers buy at Walmart its just good business to let them rest overnight if they just keep things neat.
is cracker barrel a restaurant or department store
It's a restaurant, but they do sell stuff in the waiting area - articles of clothing, kids games, candy, ball caps, music cd's, yard ornaments, etc. It's quite an eclectic assortment of souvenir items, but their primary source of income is sit down breakfast, lunch and dinner.
My favorite is the Country Boy Breakfast.
Three eggs*, Fried Apples, Hashbrown Casserole and grits plus Two Pork Chops or Country Ham or Sirloin Steak*. Comes with All the Fixin’s: Sawmill Gravy, homemade Buttermilk Biscuits, real butter and the best Preserves n’ Jam. Strong black coffee.
Does make for a mid day nap at times on the long drives.
