Well that sux...... I keep the ball mount inserted into the receiver for just that reason. That and I don't have to mess with it. It does offer a bit more protection from being rear ended but it also causes a heckofalot more damage to the a hole that hit you.

First thing I did day after was put my hitch in, and went and bout a lock for it. Its in now, not taking it out!

You're lucky. In Pennsylvania, it's my understanding that you can be fined for leaving your hitch in. I have heard of one or two getting ticketed for it. Sad state of affairs.

This is not true in any state. Look it up. It has been discussed on here many times. Kinda like Ford owns Cummins.

Well you very well could be right (and probably are). I was going by hear say so whoever told me about people getting fined may very well have been yanking my chain. I never keep mine in anyway. I just don't tow all that often. So I learned something today. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Dont feel bad. I thought the same. I even researched the snot out of it for Illinois after I was told it was BS. Found it Is a bunch of folklore. However, some greasy politician DID try to push it through, but it was rejected. That’s where it started... and ended.

Same here in the small amount of research I did this morning. A bill was presented, pushed and then died. I'm sure it will resurface someday, you know, new and improved where you have to wear a helmet to hook up a trailer or something stupid like that. Hey, if I'm not wrong at least three times a day, it just doesn't feel right. Yes, I'm married.

What? Ford doesn't own Cummins? Now you're going to tell me I can't drive barefoot in my car (which is legal, but common folklore says it's illegal)

Back in the old days in Europe, people used the S-class to tow trailers and would also leave it in to stop people from hitting it while parking.

Getting rear ended on day 3 of the car.. ouch. Now you would know how I felt when I hit a deer while my brand new car was only 3 days old.

For me, any F-150 with the optional center console is nicer than the others. I could never order without, in fact, I made sure my new Silverado has that too!

Only issue I've ever had with leaving the hitch in is it's a shin skinner if you forget it's there.
Been there, done that, didn't learn it well enough not to do it a second time.

Me too. The first thing I do when we go camping with our TT is to pull the hitch out and stow it. Otherwise it's just a matter of minutes before I bang my leg on it.
