99 4.6 L DPFE sensor melting

I have a 99 expedition 4.6. started running rough. throwing cylinder misfire codes. but found the Differintal Pressure Feedback Sensor melted inside at the tubes that connect to the ERG valve tube that hooks up to the exhaust. replaced and running fine. But i think it can melt again, whats up with this?

I had that same problem on my 2000 ford contour v6.
It was many years ago so my memory isnít very good. But I think it was at the same time I found the catalytic converter(s) plugged.
My theory is that the extra back pressure caused the dpfe sensor to melt.
Mine actually shot the connecting tube off. That was my first indication.

I smashed out the catalyst and it ran fine (except the Check Engine light always on)
