1950 Hood Side Emblem Color Question

I am restoring a 1950, Canadian-built, F47 Pickup. Normally, the stainless-stamped, Ford emblem on the F1 and F47 trucks is seen unpainted. My question is if this emblem was ever painted by Ford either in the United States or Canada and if so, in what color? On a side note, the truck still had its original hubcaps. These caps are much different from the reproduction hubcaps that are available from many sources. I had them restored by a metal refinisher. I repainted the Ford script in what I could determine to be the original blue color.

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum! To answer your question, yes, the ford hood side emblems had blue paint in the lettering. Probably the same blue as used on the hubcaps. Here's an early Ford promo pic from 1948 that shows the color in the emblem, if you can look close. It's the best I have.

Just curious, how are your original hubcaps different than the repopped hubcaps? Can you show us pictures of your hubcaps.

Do you realize your Ford emblems are on the wrong side of the hood? The front edge of the emblem is supposed to angle forward. See the original red truck pic posted above. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post18502614

Were the letters painted blue for all years? I didn't notice any evidence of paint on mine, a 1950 F-1.

As far as I know, yes. My 50 F1 had its letters painted blue. The paint on the emblems (and a lot of other trim parts) was extremely thin and commonly wore off from weather over the years.
