i bought the tool to remove the handles. Had to modify it a little. Removed the lip on both sides so it is flat now. Question, does the tool go in between the handle and the rubber grommet or does it go between the rubber grommet and the door? There is not much space there at all. I had it between the handle and the rubber but didn’t have any luck removing the pin.
That is not the right tool for the ford clips. The ends of the clip don't stick out far enough out of the groove in the handles. You need
this tool, it grabs the clip ends from the back end of the handle.

It goes between the handle itself and the top of the escutcheon. The escutcheon is the rubber part and the stainless part. The position of your tool in pictures 1 and 2 are both wrong.
Some guys, myself included find it easier to use a very small screw driver and a pick.
Here is what the handle looks like off the door.
I had to use a small pick on mine because i couldn't get the tool to work. It messed the clips up but new clips are cheap and are much easier to put in then take out I found.
Wow! What a pain in the ***. I think the ends of the clips were cut. There was no way to catch them just by pushing. I had to use a screwdriver to spread the handle and the eschulon and then use a pick to dig into the grove the ring fits in and work it around and then use another lick with a small hook I made to finally reach in and pull it out. Seriously, all the videos I watched it was a 5 second job for each handle. Mine took about 45 minutes total.
If if I get those handles rechromed, should I sand blast them or does the chrome shop usually do that?
That's because you need the correct tool. The tool in your pics are for GM handles and don't work on these handles. I also took mine off with the screw driver/pic method and it was a PIA !

Save yours for the rat rod crowd and by new ones, having them restored to be re-chromed would cost way too much..same thing for the outside handles
The vent window glass is broken. I need to get a new vent window #2, I need to get #3 vent frame with pivot as the pivot on my frame is broken too (unless I can weld a new bolt on). I also need a #13 vent handle button kit (missing on mine), #6 front vent seal and #7 rear vent seal.
I need to replace #2 door glass run and #11 vent seal kit. I need to replace the material inside the division bar. I’ve checked a couple different places but see that for sale just #6 entire division bar. Does anyone sell just that material? It looks like felt or something.
You’ll probably do better just buying a complete window weather stripping kit to get most of what you need. I have seen the felt Chanels at Swap meets and car shows but it usually comes in 6’ lengths so shipping would be as much as the part. You might be able to shop around for a used vent window, frame and handle but you really only wanna tear your window down once (in your projects life) so new might be the way to go. They offer a new vent window complete and ready to install from several of our vendors. It’s not cheap but it’s all new and easy.
I have to disagree with most of these posts. I worked in a truck sales org in the late 50's early 60's. the tool you have works best, however you have to develop a feel for when it is contacting the right spot or groove and clip. once you get the hang of it, the tool works great. it helps if you can visualize the clip and groove you have to catch and push out. occasionally you get a jimmied clip and then it is a problem. when you reinstall use good or new clips.
The passenger side (right side) vent window has a broken pivot post and glass. I was able to get the glass out of the vent window and drilled the pivot post rivets out. All the books have vent seal fronts and vent seal backs. I am assuming that those are the rubber seals around silver frame and the black glass frame. Question: the glass looks like it was held in the black metal frame with a rubber gasket or something but I don’t see that in any of the books. It was very difficult getting the glass out of that frame. Maybe I just run a bead of 3m sealer around it.
