This note from Hemming's Daily..."On February 19, 1954, the prototype of the Ford Thunderbird was finished; it debuted at the Detroit Auto Show the next day. The stylish new V-8-powered two-seater would not enter production until fall, with sales beginning in October as a 1955 model."
