Willing to bet its an aftermarket emergency vehicle console. They don't show a closer up picture but theres at least a radio mounted in it and the side has a removable cutout for wiring to pass through. Looks really good, those aftermarket ones are usually just black.

 

Only concern is how much idle time has it seen in 19 yrs

 

Fire Dept.. Started cold and then driven hard, then idle for a long time and driven back.. May not be too bad though as its doesn't have smog stuff.. Our 6.4s are getting
the DPFs all plugged up as they really need to be driven and doubt they have had a regen in years.

Wonder why they took it out of service right after the front was redone?

 

By the description of use, it hasn't suffered the usual emergency vehicle use that most get. Probably lots of short trips, but not blasted hard on a cold motor or left idling for hours.
