1.5 Ecoboost

1.5 Ecoboost
Does anyone have a newer Escape with the 1.5 Eco? If so, what is your impression of the engine? Enough power? I've owned 2 Escapes in my life. The first was a 2013 with the 1.6 Eco. Loved it and it seemed to have plenty of power. Now we have a 2016 with a 2.0 Eco. REALLY love that engine. I've heard many people bad mouth the 1.5 Eco as being a dog. First off, I'm not sure why Ford got rid of the 1.6 Eco as it seemed to be a good solid engine. By the end of the year, I would like to trade up to a new Escape if things roll right. However, in typical Ford fashion, everything has a 1.5 Eco except for the Titanium package. They seem to be the only ones with the 2.0. Sure, maybe you can order an SE with the 2.0 (that's what we have now, off the lot) but if I'm going to order anything, it will be a truck. I'm not altogether sure we will be able to go for a Titanium. I'm also not sure we would be happy going with something else after owning an Ecoboost. We tried another brand last year and it just didn't seem like it could get out of it's own way. I also have an Ecoboost F150 so I think I'm ruined for anything else going forward. Sorry for the book/rant but I'm just really PO'd about this.

I was just on Ford's website looking at the Escapes and I see they have listed only the Titanium trim package as having the 2.0 now. Anything below that gets the 1.5. Additionally, they are reducing the horse power for 2020. I think this is a real mistake on Ford's part but we'll see how it shakes out. I think we'll look at a Subaru next. I already know they have no guts so we may as well go with no turbos. So disappointed. We have absolutely loved the two Escapes we've had and both have been trouble free.
