eBay bargain of the week

For only $1,049.77 you can buy a new 53-56 Ford truck hood emblem from gearhead enterprises. They've sold 41. There is only one left!

Wasn't there a similar thread about this a few months ago? Or something similar?

This is the same company that "dreamed up" the running board step plates.

Is this the same SoCal Pickups that had the girls posing in the catalogue?

If so, they had the fiberglass fender liners with the battery box built in. No one makes one now.

On this thread: the hood emblem isn’t the only high priced item they have had. They also have the $1,000+ F-100 emblems and the $1,000+ Fordomatic emblems. They have also had the $1,000+ “Boomerangs” in the past as well. I don’t know if it’s a scam or just a mistake.

Just checked out their eBay store. They have a lot of items with a “10” added to the front of the price. $1,019.77 valve cover gaskets anyone?

I only know of one company named SoCal (refers to Southern California for y'all out of state ) Pickups & Panels.

They sold their repro parts at local car swap meets, but I don't recall seeing a calendar.

If I were to guess, this very high volume seller will add $1,000 to any listing in which he started out with multiple of the same item and now is getting down to the last ones. If his inventory control count is off, then there would be an unhappy customer who paid but didn't get the item.
The seller then may check to be sure his count is correct, then re-price the verified item.

I've seen bizarre pricing on some things on E-Bay over the last 18 years. This one doesn't sound like he is gouging.....he may have an automatic price increase on the last in stock to avoid mis-counts until they are verified as being present.
Just a guess.

Ohhhh.... I get it. Tom you are so smart. Thanks. And here I was blaming a typo, human error.

Talk about human error.... I listed a tool tray from a 52 F2 several years ago. I think I wanted $35. I missed a digit and the ad said $3. Within minutes some guy bought it. I can't blame him. But I cancelled the sale and explained it was a typo.

I saw this and thought it was an old thread revived. This part has been that same price for quite a while.

I bought something from Gear Enterprises some time ago and was not very happy with it. Don't remember what it was but I do remember the name of the company. Put them on my shoot list....

Joe, good detective work. You need another truck to take up some of your time!

Well, my grandson does need a truck. At the pace I work, it will take the full 16 years to get it driveable.
